What is FIRST® LEGO® League Singapore Discover?

FIRST® LEGO® League Singapore Discover is a global STEM program for preschoolers aged 4-7 years which helps develop 'STEM skills' or now better known as 'STEAM skills' from an early age. Children participating in this will explore a real-world theme and learn through play. FIRST® LEGO® League Singapore Discover aims to ignite children's natural curiosity and builds their habits of learning with hands-on activities in the classroom and family engagement activities to extend learning at home using LEGO® DUPLO® bricks. How does it work?

Every year, children embark on an exciting adventure with a different real-world theme. Working in groups of four within their class, they dive into the theme using an exclusive LEGO® Education Discover Set. The children take the model provided as a launching pad, using LEGO® DUPLO® elements to craft their unique creations. Along the way, they develop essential learning habits by tackling various tasks and challenges, all while embracing the values at the core of FIRST® LEGO® League. The programme concludes with a Celebration Event, where certificates are awarded, and plenty of high fives are shared, recognising the children's accomplishments and showcasing their remarkable learning journey. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run this as an after-school club activity or childcare centre enrichment activity?

The FIRST® LEGO® League Discover division is for a larger number of children, such as a whole class (>8) since it has a competitive edge to it.

Can I run this with children across different ages or education background?

Absolutely! It is designed for children aged 4-6. Some smaller schools have run this with a mixture of different ages very successfully and have noted how the strengths of the different ages have supported each other to participate in the groups effectively. Similarly, older children (ages 6+) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities can also benefit from the programme.

What materials do I need?

We will provide all the necessary materials to run the program.

What training do I need to run the program?

You do not need any prior training! The Team Meeting Guide is a detailed guide to running the programme with lesson plans which you can follow as closely or loosely as you wish.
