Shaping the STEAM Leaders of Tomorrow: FIRST® LEGO® League
FIRST® LEGO® League guides youth through STEM learning and exploration at an early age. From Discover, to Explore and then to Challenge, students will understand the basics of STEM and apply their skills in an exciting competition while gaining productive learning habits, confidence, and teamwork skills along the way.
Under the FOUNDERS Edition umbrella, both Explore and Challenge foster friendly competition and hands-on STEM learning for teams of 2 to 5 students. Explore introduces younger participants (ages 6–10) to real-world engineering fundamentals, tasking them with designing, coding, and creating unique solutions powered by LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential or WeDo 2.0. Stepping up the complexity, Challenge invites older students (ages 9–16) to dive deeper into research, problem-solving, and advanced engineering as they build and program LEGO robots to navigate dynamic, mission-based games.
The Future Edition represents the next generation of FIRST LEGO League, offering an evolved learning pathway for students ages 5–7 and 8–16. By leveraging LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI kits—complete with teacher resources, hardware, coding software, and bricks—this edition brings real-world computer science directly into the classroom and competition arena across both age brackets.
We focus on fostering life-long learning and genuine interest in STEAM, not just winning in competitions.
